The Kano State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Custom Officer, CSC Abdullahi Abdulwahab Magaji, who allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a Pump Action Gun.
The incident occurred on May 6, 2024, at his residence in Farm Centre Quarters, Kano.
According to the Police Spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has ordered a detailed investigation into the matter.
SP Haruna said, “On 06/05/2024 at about 12pm, report was received that a Custom Officer, one CSC Abdullahi Abdulwahab Magaji, serving in Abuja, and a resident of Farm Centre Quarters in Kano allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a Pump Action Gun.
“The Crime-scene Police Team was led by the Farm Centre Division Divisional Police Officer, CSP Ibrahim Abubakar. The feedback on what the team observed prompted the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, to order for detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death,” he said.
A crime scene team led by the Farm Centre Divisional Police Officer, CSP Ibrahim Abubakar, has been deployed to gather evidence and unravel the mystery behind Magaji’s death.
In a related development, the police are also investigating a rivalry clash between thuggery groups that resulted in the death of two youths, Sadiq Abdulkadir (23) and Muhammad Sani (22), in Darmanawa Quarters, Kano.
The incident occurred on May 12, 2024, during a Gangi Event organized by one Muhammad Barde, who has been arrested along with two other suspects.
The police are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding both incidents and will make the details public once the investigations are complete.
The Commissioner of Police has assured the public of a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served.
