Inter Milan cruised to a 2-0 win over Udinese in the Italian Cup on Thursday, despite making eight changes to the side that triumphed 6-0 over Lazio just days earlier.
Goals from Marko Arnautović and Kristjan Asllani in the first half secured the victory, setting up a quarterfinal clash with Lazio.
The game was temporarily halted near the end of the first half after a spectator collapsed in the stands.
The fan was quickly attended to by medical staff, and a defibrillator was used before the individual was carried out on a stretcher, receiving applause from the San Siro crowd. Reports indicated the fan was stable in the hospital.
When play resumed after a delay of more than five minutes, Udinese seemed shaken, and Asllani’s corner kick from the left sailed through the area and found its way in off the far post, doubling Inter’s lead.
The match had started with a mistake from Udinese midfielder Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, whose poor pass in the 30th minute went straight to Mehdi Taremi, who set up Arnautović for the opening goal at the bottom right corner.
Taremi came close to adding a second after hitting the post in the second half, while Inter also had an early penalty overturned following a review.
In the final minutes, teenage defender Mike Aidoo made his professional debut for Inter, coming on for the last two minutes.
