Fast-rising Nigerian airline, ValueJet, has officially sealed a partnership with the Nigeria Football Federation to become the official airline of the football-governing body and the country’s national teams.
The agreement was signed on Saturday at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, where ValueJet’s Chief Executive Officer and Accountable Manager, Capt. Omololu Majekodunmi, expressed the airline’s excitement about the collaboration.
He assured that ValueJet is committed to ensuring seamless travel arrangements for Nigeria’s national teams as they compete in major international tournaments.
“We are happy at this historic development. Nigeria football has a storied history and a passionate fan base. By joining forces with the NFF, we intend to bring fresh energy to the game and provide seamless travel solutions for our National Teams as they compete at home and abroad,” Majekodunmi said.
He further emphasized the airline’s dedication to supporting sports in Nigeria, stating that the partnership includes initiatives that will promote football’s growth nationwide, from grassroots programs to high-profile competitions.
Chairman of the NFF’s marketing and sponsorship committee, Sharif Inuwa, represented NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau at the event.
He highlighted that ValueJet has already been providing top-notch services to the Super Eagles for over a year, making the formalization of this partnership a logical step forward.
“I am happy that we have formally consummated this partnership, though unofficially, ValueJet has been providing excellent services to the Super Eagles by flying them to away matches for about 16 months now. Players and officials have commended their general operations and the NFF is happy that this relationship has now been sealed.
“Our two organisations are agreed that Nigeria football should actually be on a higher pedestal at home and internationally, and ValueJet is willing to support the NFF in taking the game to new heights,” Inuwa said.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, also praised ValueJet for its professionalism and commitment, particularly recalling the airline’s swift intervention during the Super Eagles’ ordeal in Libya in October 2024, when the team was briefly detained by Libyan authorities ahead of a 2025 AFCON qualifier.
With this partnership now in place, ValueJet is set to play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth movement of Nigeria’s national teams as they strive for success on the global stage.
