Hamas has firmly rejected a proposal by United States President, Donald Trump to resettle Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan.
The group condemned the suggestion as a deliberate attempt to undermine the Palestinian cause and forcefully displace its people.
In a statement released on Monday, Hamas labeled the proposal an “aggressive scheme” that ignores the historical and national rights of Palestinians.
The statement emphasized that Palestinians, who have long faced conflict and displacement, remain steadfast in their dedication to their homeland.
“The Palestinian people will not accept any plan that seeks to uproot or displace them,” the statement declared, according to Xinhua News.
Additionally, Hamas called on the U.S. government to cease its support for Israeli policies, which, according to the group, violate Palestinian rights.
Hamas also appealed to Arab and Islamic countries, particularly Egypt and Jordan, urging them to reject the relocation proposal.
It called for their support in rebuilding Gaza and backing Palestinians’ right to stay on their land.
