In the early hours of Friday, a group of gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted four members of a family in the Tundun Fulani extension area of Bwari Area Council, located within the Federal Capital Territory.
According to The PUNCH, the abduction took place around 1:30 am, plunging the community into fear.
A resident of the area who wished to remain anonymous, explained that the kidnappers, heavily armed and in large numbers, stormed the family’s home, forcibly gaining entry before making off with the four victims.
“There was a kidnap incident in Tundun Fulani extension in Bwari around 1:30 am. The kidnappers were many and fully armed. The kidnappers broke into a house and kidnapped four members of the same family. They also shot one person who escaped being kidnapped,” the resident recounted.
Tragically, another individual who narrowly escaped being abducted was shot by the assailants, highlighting the violence of the encounter.
In response to the incident, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed that the police had quickly intervened and were actively addressing the situation.
“We responded swiftly. We are on top of the situation,” Adeh assured.
This abduction is the latest in a troubling series of kidnappings within the Bwari area.
On May 8, thirteen people were kidnapped from the remote community of Piko in the Bwari Area Council during a violent raid by suspected gunmen.
More recently, in July, a resident of El-Rufai Estate in the same area, identified as Nathaniel, was shot by kidnappers after their attempt to abduct him was thwarted by a swift response from the FCT police, who had been working in conjunction with military forces to combat the rising tide of criminal activity in the region.
