A fire outbreak occurred on Thursday evening at a filling station in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, following a fuel tanker explosion.
According to The PUNCH, the incident, which took place around 8 p.m. at Shakkotu along Kiyawa Road, caused panic among residents as flames engulfed the station and nearby properties.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with people scrambling for safety.
“I was nearby when I heard a loud explosion,” said Baba Nura, who witnessed the event. “When I got to the scene, I saw that the fuel tanker had burst into flames, and the fire had spread across the entire filling station.”
The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, stating that authorities were alerted at about 8 p.m.
“We immediately deployed officers to the scene along with the fire service,” Adam said. “The area was cordoned off to prevent further damage. So far, there have been no reported casualties, but investigations are ongoing.”
