A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Friday near Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos, as a speeding vehicle crashed into soldiers during their routine road jog.
According to The PUNCH, at least four soldiers are feared dead, while several others sustained serious injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident involved a Toyota vehicle carrying three young men who appeared to be intoxicated. The car, reportedly moving at high speed, plowed into the soldiers as they exercised near the barracks.
A resident of the area, Priscilla, described the chaotic scene. “The soldiers were on their usual morning exercise when the car suddenly rammed into them. Four of them died on the spot, and many others were badly injured,” she said.
Following the crash, the occupants of the vehicle allegedly attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended by onlookers and military personnel.
“The boys tried to run, but they were caught and beaten severely. Their car was also destroyed,” Priscilla added.
