The Federal Government has announced that it will award contracts on Thursday, November 24, that will speed up the deployment of broadband infrastructure across the nation.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued by Nigerian Communications Commission on Thursday.
Contracts will be awarded for projects such as the provision of broadband infrastructure for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises , as well as tertiary and higher education institutions across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
Nigeria aims to reach 70% broadband penetration by 2025 through the National Broadband Plan (NBP 2020-2025).
Also, the installation of broadband connections in all tertiary institutions across the nation is a key component of the plan to accomplish this.
The press statement also revealed that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, will preside over the commencement of the landmark broadband initiatives.
