The Federal Capital Territory Administration has approved N36.5 billion for various development projects across the Federal Capital City and its satellite towns.
This was disclosed by the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, FCTA, Mr. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
The briefing followed the first meeting of the FCT Executive Committee in 2025.
According to Zulkiflu, N19.6 billion will be allocated to the construction of multi-event sports centres, while N13.9 billion will be used for the construction of two magistrate courts.
An additional N3 billion has been earmarked for the procurement and installation of a 33KV power supply and a solar-powered streetlight system.
He revealed that contracts for the construction of the multi-event sport complexes in Abuja have been awarded.
Lot A, covering Area 3 and Area 10 in Garki District, was awarded to Earthgain Energy and Environmental Services Ltd for N9.9 billion, while Lot B, located at Kafe District behind Life Camp, was awarded to Tegwa-Tegwa Nigeria Ltd for N9.7 billion. Both projects are expected to be completed within 12 months.
“The committee also approved the construction of two magistrates’ courts in Asokoro and Garki Districts, at the cost of N7.6 billion and N6.3 billion respectively,” Zulkiflu said. “The projects, expected to be delivered within 15 and 18 months respectively, were initiated to improve access to justice and legal services in the FCT.”
Additionally, N3 billion has been set aside for the construction of a 33KVA power supply to serve communities from Dawaki to Bwari.
The funds will also cover the installation of a solar streetlight system on Arab Road and U-Shape Road in the same areas.
The contract for this project was awarded to CGC Nigeria Ltd, with completion expected within six months.
Zulkiflu explained that the initiative is aimed at enhancing security in the affected satellite towns.
