Nottingham Forest will enter the Christmas break in the Premier League’s top four after defeating Brentford 2-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, handing the Bees their first home loss of the season.
With 31 points, Forest climbed to third place, while Brentford, who had been unbeaten in 10 home matches across all competitions (winning nine), now sit 12th with 23 points.
Despite Brentford dominating possession, Forest capitalized on their opportunities.
The visitors took the lead in the 38th minute when Ola Aina, left unmarked, finished a Neco Williams cross into the bottom corner.
Early in the second half, Forest extended their advantage to 2-0, with Anthony Elanga seizing on a defensive mistake. Under Nuno Espirito Santo’s guidance, Forest held off Brentford for the remainder of the match, securing the three points.
