The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is set to re-arraign former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd), and former General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Aminu Baba-Kusa, along with two companies, Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory today.
Previously, the case was presided over by Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf before his appointment as the FCT Chief Judge. It has now been reassigned to Justice Charles Agbaza.
Dasuki and his co-defendants were first arraigned in 2015 on allegations of money laundering and breach of trust involving N13.5 billion.
Over time, the charges expanded into a 32-count indictment, accusing them of mismanaging N33.2 billion meant for arms procurement to combat Boko Haram.
In a separate but related case, Dasuki, former Minister of State for Finance Bashir Yuguda, ex-Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, and their company, Dalhatu Investment Limited, are standing trial before Justice Yusuf Halilu over allegations of misappropriating N19.4 billion in public funds.
The fresh arraignment follows significant delays, partly due to the Department of State Services refusing to release Dasuki on bail despite multiple court orders.
The case is being restarted due to administrative adjustments and concerns over judicial workload.
