Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced plans to donate N300 million to orphanages and a charity focused on helping young people avoid drug abuse and addiction.
Sharing the news on his social media platforms on Monday, Davido wrote:
“Once again, my birthday this year, we [are] donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is N300m. Details to follow soon ❤️.”
This isn’t the first time the superstar has made headlines for his philanthropy. On his 29th birthday, Davido challenged his friends and fans to contribute N1 million each as a token of love.
The challenge went viral, raising N200 million in less than two days. Davido added N50 million of his own money, donating a total of N250 million to 292 orphanages across Nigeria.
In July 2023, Davido revealed that his foundation, the David Adeleke Foundation, distributed N237 million to 424 orphanages, positively impacting 13,818 children.
The DAF, which was established in 2022, continues to support vulnerable communities and underscores Davido’s dedication to social welfare and charitable causes.
