Award-winning Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has voiced his frustration with the Independent National Electoral Commission over issues surrounding the Edo State governorship election.
Davido, whose mother is from Edo State, took to social media to express his disappointment with the electoral process, drawing parallels to his experience with the Osun State election.
He urged INEC to address these challenges, saying, “We can’t continue like this… wtf.”
In a strongly worded post, Davido added, “#INECNigeria shame on you. I know how many times I had to come here and rant before they got it right in Osun! It’s really bad. God help us.”
His comments came after Deputy Inspector General of Police, Frank Mba, advised voters in Edo to return home immediately after casting their ballots, stating that only accredited individuals should remain at polling stations. Mba also announced a restriction on vehicular movement from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day.
Reacting to this, Davido, who has openly shown support for the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Asue Ighodalo, expressed a differing view, suggesting that voters should stay at their polling units after voting. In response to Mba’s statement, he tweeted, “Loooooooool, go where???”
