Bruno Mars has addressed long standing rumors about his alleged $50 million gambling debt with MGM Resorts while celebrating a historic achievement on Spotify.
According to Daily Mail, the Grammy-winning artist, 39, became the first performer to surpass 150 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform.
In an Instagram Stories post on Tuesday, he shared Spotify’s announcement with a lighthearted caption: “KEEP STREAMING. I’ll be out of debt in no time.”
Mars’ comment seemingly referenced speculation that he owed millions to MGM due to gambling. These rumors first surfaced in March 2024 when NewsNation published a report claiming he had accumulated a significant debt with the casino giant.
The report suggested that despite earning $90 million annually from his Las Vegas residency, a large portion went toward settling his financial obligations.
However, MGM Resorts denied these claims. In a statement to TMZ last March, a spokesperson said, “We’re proud of our relationship with Bruno Mars, one of the world’s most thrilling and dynamic performers… MGM and Bruno’s partnership is longstanding and rooted in mutual respect.”
“Any speculation otherwise is completely false; he has no debt with MGM. Together, we are excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
Amid his streaming success, Mars also announced an extension of his residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live.
He has scheduled seven additional performances for May 21, 24, 25, 28, 30, and 31, as well as June 2. Tickets go on sale Thursday through a Live Nation presale, with general sales starting Friday.
Mars’ latest music collaborations are also making waves. His duet with Lady Gaga, Die With a Smile, has spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, while APT., his track with BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ, recently climbed to third place on the chart.
The song has dominated the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Chart for 13 weeks and made history as the first track by a K-pop artist to top the Billboard Pop Airplay Chart.
Adding to his streak, Mars has also released Fat, Juicy and Wet featuring Sexyy Red, with Lady Gaga and ROSÉ making appearances in the music video.
