Bayern Munich secured a commanding 4-0 victory over third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, with substitute Serge Gnabry adding the finishing touch in stoppage time to reinforce their Bundesliga lead.
Gnabry sealed the win by slotting the ball between the legs of Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp in the 92nd minute, capping off a dominant performance.
His goal came nearly 10 minutes after Jamal Musiala weaved past multiple defenders, benefitted from a fortunate deflection, and powered his shot past Trapp for Bayern’s third.
Despite being without top scorer Harry Kane in the starting lineup, the Bavarians maintained their stronghold at the top, sitting eight points ahead of defending champions Bayer Leverkusen with 11 matches left in the season.
Bayern’s head coach, Vincent Kompany, chose to rest Kane, who suffered a facial injury during last weekend’s draw with Leverkusen, only introducing him for the final 30 minutes.
In total, Kompany made six changes from the side that was held to a 1-1 draw by Celtic in the Champions League playoffs on Tuesday, with veteran Thomas Müller leading the frontline.
Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitiké had the best early chance after a defensive lapse by Hiroki Ito, while Musiala came close at the other end, only to see his effort cleared off the line.
Bayern controlled much of the match and deservedly took the lead when Michael Olise found the net before halftime.
