Barcelona playmaker, Dani Olmo, is set to be sidelined for approximately three weeks due to injury, ruling him out of their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Borussia Dortmund.
Olmo sustained a right thigh injury during Barcelona’s 3-0 La Liga victory over Osasuna on Thursday.
As a result, he will be unavailable for key upcoming fixtures, including this weekend’s league encounter with Girona, the second leg of the Spanish Cup semi-final against Atletico Madrid, and the crucial April 9 clash with Dortmund.
“Tests carried out this morning (Friday) confirm Dani Olmo is suffering from …an adductor muscle injury in his right leg. His recovery time will be around three weeks,” the club stated in an official announcement.
The Spanish international had to leave the pitch shortly after scoring in Thursday’s triumph, which helped Barcelona extend their lead at the top of La Liga to three points.
Following the game, manager Hansi Flick acknowledged the significance of the setback.
“We have three points more but we paid a really high price with the injury of Dani,” Flick said.
“We don’t know how long he will be out but if it’s two weeks, he’ll miss a lot of games and if it’s three weeks even more,” he added.
