Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, expressed concern over injuries to key players Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice following their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Although the Gunners managed to claim a point from the hard-fought clash, Arteta admitted that Saka and Rice “did not look good” after being forced off with injuries.
In an intense showdown between the London rivals, Gabriel Martinelli’s powerful strike briefly put Arsenal in the lead, igniting hope among the traveling fans.
However, Wolves winger Pedro Neto quickly equalized, leveling the score in the 61st minute.
Despite Arsenal’s efforts to regain control, they were unable to break through Chelsea’s defense, with a last-minute shot by Leandro Trossard missing the target and ending Arsenal’s chances of securing a full three points.
The game took a concerning turn for Arsenal when Saka limped off after a challenge with Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, while Rice was also substituted, dealing with what appeared to be a foot injury. Arteta substituted Rice with midfielder Mikel Merino, who could only partially fill the gap left by the injured star.
Following the match, Arteta spoke to Sky Sports, commenting on the injuries to his players. “They [Saka and Rice] don’t look very good,” he admitted. “I don’t know [if it’s long-term]. They both couldn’t finish the game, so not good.”
Reflecting on the game overall, Arteta expressed frustration over Arsenal’s inability to hold onto their advantage and avoid conceding.
“The disappointment of not getting three points is bigger [than being satisfied] and it will probably be bigger after watching it back. I think we dominated them, we were the better team in many phases and situations in the game and after going ahead, very disappointed in the way we conceded. It was so poor. It is not our standards and we don’t accept,” Arteta stressed.
Arsenal will be looking to regroup as they prepare for their next Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on November 23, following the international break.
Fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on Saka and Rice, hoping for a swift recovery for the two Arsenal stars ahead of their return to action.
