The Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Commission has distributed a total refund of N157,952,880 to 2,586 pilgrims who participated in the 2023 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Monday in Yola by the commission’s information officer, Aisha Sa’ad.
According to the statement, the funds were disbursed as compensation for inadequate services provided during the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
“Each pilgrim who performed Hajj (pilgrimage) in 2023 was paid N61,080 for poor services rendered by the service providers at the kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the statement read.
It further explained that the refund originated from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was transferred to Nigeria via the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for distribution across the 36 states.
“The sum of 150 Saudi Riyals, which is equivalent to N157,952.880, was given to Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Commission by the NAHCON to be shared with 2,586 Pilgrims that performed the 2023 Hajj exercise,” the statement added.
The commission confirmed that the disbursement process was completed successfully, with all beneficiaries receiving their payments directly into their bank accounts.
