Paramount Pictures has introduced a lineup of Nigerian talents, featuring Saniyya Sidney, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ayra Starr, Pamilerin Ayodeji, Shamz Garuba, Kola Bodunde, and Temi Fagbenle, for its highly anticipated adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone.
Notably, Ayodeji and Garuba emerged from open casting calls held in Nigeria, underscoring the studio’s dedication to authentic representation. Details about their roles will be disclosed later in an exclusive reveal by Apples Bite Magazine.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film stars Thuso Mbedu as protagonist Zélie Adebola, with Tosin Cole portraying her brother Tzain. Amandla Stenberg steps into the role of Princess Amari, while the ensemble cast includes Damson Idris, Lashana Lynch, Idris Elba as Lekan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, and Viola Davis as Mama Agba.
Filming officially commenced in South Africa on February 17, 2025. Author Tomi Adeyemi shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse on Instagram, captioning the moment with, “And… action.” To ensure the adaptation stays true to the novel’s Nigerian-inspired fantasy world, Adeyemi co-wrote the screenplay alongside Prince-Bythewood.
Children of Blood and Bone is set to debut in theaters on January 15, 2027, with an IMAX release planned for an immersive cinematic experience.
