The Kwara State Police Command has successfully rescued Sule Saidu, who was abducted at Ahuro Fulani Camp in Ifelodun Local Government Area last Friday.
In a statement issued on Monday, State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the arrest of two key suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and criminal charms during the operation, which took place on Saturday.
Saidu was reportedly kidnapped around 10 p.m. by a gang of five armed men.
Acting on intelligence received early Saturday morning, a joint security team comprising police detectives, local hunters, and vigilantes launched a rescue mission.
The police statement read, “The gang was intercepted along the Babanla/Oreke area, where they engaged operatives in a gun duel. One abductor was neutralised, two were arrested, named Ibrahim Shehu, 40 years old, and Mohammad Lawal, 25 years old, while the remaining two escaped with gunshot wounds.”
Further details revealed that “the injured suspects, who were later apprehended, succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital.”
Commending the swift response of officers and the collaboration with local security groups, the command emphasized that such efforts continue to strengthen security across the state.
The Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help maintain public safety.
