Lagos State police have arrested a suspect accused of stabbing an Uber driver and making away with his vehicle.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the state police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the attack took place on Saturday at 7:34 p.m. in the Ile-Zik area of Agege.
According to Hundeyin, the Uber driver had picked up the suspect at Nitel, Old Abeokuta Motor Road, Agege, with a destination set for Marriott Hotel in GRA, Ikeja.
However, during the journey, the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked the driver before fleeing with the car.
“The driver reported at Isokoko Police Division that the suspect boarded his Toyota Camry and, upon reaching Ile-Zik, suddenly brought out a sharp knife, stabbed him multiple times, and drove off with the vehicle,” Hundeyin said.
Following the report, police operatives launched a manhunt and traced the stolen car to Oshodi, where they intercepted and arrested the suspect.
“He was immediately apprehended, and the vehicle was recovered and taken to the station,” the police spokesperson added.
Hundeyin further disclosed that the injured driver had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment, while investigations into the case were ongoing.
