South Korean actress, Kim Sae-ron, aged 24, was found deceased in her Seoul residence on Sunday, according to police reports on Monday.
A friend, who had planned to meet her, discovered her body around 4:50 p.m. local time.
Authorities stated, “We believe she made an extreme choice and plan to handle it as a suicide,” as reported by the Yonhap news agency.
No suicide note was found, and while no signs of foul play were detected, the investigation remains ongoing.
Kim began her acting career at the age of 9, gaining prominence through roles in the 2010 action film “The Man from Nowhere” and the 2012 thriller “The Neighbor.”
She achieved further recognition with her performance in the 2023 Netflix series “Bloodhounds.”
However, in May 2022, she faced public scrutiny after a drunk driving incident in Seoul’s Gangnam district, where she crashed into a roadside electrical transformer box.
This event led to a fine of 20 million won (approximately $13,850) and prompted her to step down from her role in the drama series “Trolley.”
Despite attempting a comeback in 2024, health issues led her to withdraw from the spotlight once more. Throughout her career, Kim received several accolades, including multiple “Best New Actress” awards at Korean arts ceremonies.
