President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to leave Abuja on Wednesday for a private visit to France before proceeding to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the upcoming African Union summit.
According to a statement from the presidency, Tinubu will participate in the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 38th Ordinary Session of the AU Heads of State and Government, scheduled to take place from February 12 to 16, 2025.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the president’s travel plans.
“President Tinubu will arrive in Addis Ababa early next week for the summit, where he will engage with other African leaders on key continental issues,” he said.
Before heading to Ethiopia, Tinubu is expected to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
While details of their discussions remain undisclosed, diplomatic sources suggest that bilateral relations and economic cooperation will be on the agenda.
The AU Summit will bring together African leaders to deliberate on pressing issues, including economic development, security, and regional integration.
