The Senate of the University of Ilorin has approved the conferment of the title of emeritus professor on three distinguished retirees of the institution; Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, Prof. Olu Obafemi, and Prof. Musbau Akanji.
This announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun.
According to Akogun, the appointments were ratified during the university’s 304th Senate meeting, held on Thursday, which is the institution’s apex decision-making assembly.
Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, who left the university in October 2024, is a former Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
He currently serves as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
Prof. Olu Obafemi, a distinguished academic in English and Dramatic Literature, retired in 2020 after years of service to the university.
Prof. Musbau Akanji, a renowned Biochemist, previously held the position of Vice-Chancellor at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
He concluded his academic career at the University of Ilorin in 2021.
