Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja to attend the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
During the global event, which gathers world leaders, business executives, and development partners, Shettima will engage in high-level discussions aimed at addressing the global economy and advancing investment opportunities in Africa.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Vice President, Stanley Nkwochadisclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that Shettima’s agenda includes bilateral meetings, workshops, and forums aligned with the annual gathering’s objectives.
The Vice President is set to participate in a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank in partnership with the WEF.
The session, hosted at the Jakobshorn Congress Centre, aims to attract capital to Africa’s emerging markets and enhance the continent’s prosperity and resilience.
“A key highlight of the workshop will be the unveiling of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Roadmap for Africa. This initiative seeks to build partnerships between public and private sector leaders to mobilize investments for frontier markets across the continent,” Nkwocha revealed.
Shettima will also co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at the Pischa Congress Centre. The dialogue will explore the private sector’s role in advancing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement Digital Trade Protocol, which was adopted by African Union heads of state in January 2024.
In addition to attending a dinner for heads of state, international organizations, and the WEF’s Crystal Awardees at Kurpark Village, Shettima will serve as a panellist in a stakeholder dialogue titled “Global Risks 2025.”
This session, scheduled for the Aspen 2 Congress Centre, will address pressing global risks, including geopolitical tensions, environmental challenges, and technological disruptions.
Nkwocha emphasized the significance of Shettima’s participation: “The Vice President’s presence underscores Nigeria’s commitment to fostering global partnerships and exploring opportunities for economic growth and digital transformation in Africa.”
Shettima will be accompanied by top government officials, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission.
He is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Davos.
