This achievement marks a 20 percent increase, amounting to an additional ₦14.77 billion, and represents the highest revenue ever recorded in the command’s history.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Effiong Harrison, made this known in a statement on Friday, describing the achievement as “unprecedented.”
He attributed the success to the dedication and commitment of the officers and men under his command.
“Achieving this milestone is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and adherence to operational standards by the officers and men of this command,” Harrison stated. “July 2024 was particularly exceptional, as we recorded our highest-ever monthly revenue of ₦12 billion.”
In a detailed breakdown of the performance, Harrison highlighted that the command achieved a 135 percent growth in revenue compared to 2023, when ₦30.5 billion was generated. The 2024 figure reflects an increase of ₦41.1 billion.
“This record-breaking performance underscores the significant strides we have made in revenue generation,” Harrison said. “I commend the officers and men for their relentless efforts and urge them to maintain and surpass these standards in 2025.”
Harrison also expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, and his management team for their support, as well as other stakeholders and government agencies for their invaluable contributions to the command’s success.
Looking ahead to 2025, the MMIA customs boss expressed optimism that the command would continue to set new benchmarks in revenue generation while fulfilling its core mandates.
“This achievement is a foundation for even greater milestones. With the continued support of stakeholders and our officers’ dedication, I am confident we will exceed expectations in 2025,” he added.
