The House of Representatives will commence the defence of the 2025 appropriation bill by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies on Tuesday, January 9, 2025.
According to Channels, this development was announced by the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Bichi, on Monday following a strategic meeting with statutory committee heads.
Bichi expressed optimism about the budget’s timeline, stating, “The House is committed to ensuring that the 2025 budget is passed before or by the end of January. We are ready to work tirelessly to achieve this goal.”
President Bola Tinubu had presented the ₦49.7 trillion budget proposal, tagged ‘The Restoration Budget: Securing Peace, Building Prosperity,’ to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
In his 30-minute address, the president outlined the key priorities of the budget, emphasizing security, defence, infrastructure, health, and education as the areas receiving the highest allocations.
“It is with great pleasure that I lay before this distinguished joint session of the National Assembly the 2025 Budget of Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
The president expressed confidence that the proposed budget would drive growth and foster stability across the nation. He added, “This budget is a critical step towards restoring peace and building a prosperous future for all Nigerians.”
