Police in Benue State have apprehended a lecturer from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Dr. Ichor Tersagh, for allegedly orchestrating the abduction of Mrs.
According to The PUNCH, Susan Anyagh, the wife of his colleague, Paul Anyagh. Mr. Anyagh is the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities JOSTUM chapter.
The incident occurred last Saturday when Mrs. Anyagh was ambushed and abducted along Otukpo Road in Makurdi.
According to reports, the kidnappers took N1.3 million from her car, beat her severely, and left her unconscious on a bush path.
Benue State Police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident. ..She disclosed that Mrs. Anyagh was later found along the Yandev-Ugbema Road and taken to Primary Healthcare Clinic, Ameladu, for treatment.
Recounting the victim’s experience, Anene said, “The victim explained that she was driving from Kanshio, where she collected money from a customer, when she stopped to assist some individuals who flagged her down. They immediately entered her car, pointed a gun at her, and ordered her to drive toward the Wurukum area.”
Mrs. Anyagh reportedly saw Dr. Tersagh near the scene and called out for help. “She narrated that she saw her husband’s colleague, Dr. Ichor Tersagh Smart, standing by the car. She called out to him for assistance, but he turned his back and walked away,” Anene added.
The situation escalated when the kidnappers allegedly received a call from Dr. Tersagh instructing them to kill the victim. “When they spotted a police checkpoint ahead, the abductors reversed to a secluded area.”
