Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, played a key role as he scored a penalty in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Sivasspor in an exciting Turkish Super Lig encounter on Sunday.
Galatasaray faced an uphill battle early on after being reduced to 10 men in the 15th minute when Metehan Baltaci was sent off for a reckless tackle.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, it was Sivasspor who struck first, with Garry Rodrigues opening the scoring 10 minutes later.
However, Galatasaray showed resilience as Yunus Akgun leveled the score nine minutes before halftime.
In a dramatic turn of events, Osimhen was fouled inside the penalty box in the dying moments of the first half.
The Nigerian forward stepped up confidently and converted the spot-kick with precision, giving his team the lead.
The goal brought Osimhen’s impressive league tally to seven goals and three assists in nine appearances for Galatasaray this season.
Baris Yilmaz extended the visitors’ lead in the 53rd minute, providing a cushion for Okan Buruk’s team. Although Bekir Boke pulled one back for Sivasspor in stoppage time, the hosts could not salvage a point.
With the win, Galatasaray maintains their position at the top of the league table, amassing 38 points from 14 matches.
