The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has pledged that the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, will bolster efforts to defeat the nation’s adversaries.
Musa made this statement on Friday during the burial of the late COAS in Abuja, emphasizing the importance of honoring Lagbaja’s legacy through renewed commitment to national defense.
“To the family of our dear General, we will not leave you alone. Your loss is immeasurable, but take solace in knowing that he lived a purposeful life and left behind a legacy that will endure,” Musa said during his tribute.
Addressing military personnel, Musa called for unity and dedication in the fight against threats to Nigeria’s stability.
“To my fellow officers and men, let us use this moment to recommit ourselves to the ideals for which General Lagbaja stood,” he urged.
He further assured that the military would intensify its efforts to eliminate all enemies of the state.
“We are resolved to ensure that his passing inspires us to defeat every enemy of the state, whether they operate from within or outside our borders,” Musa said.
The CDS concluded by emphasizing the importance of reflection and gratitude. “As we lower him today into the embrace of the earth, let us raise our voices in prayer and gratitude for a life well lived,” he stated.
Lagbaja’s burial was attended by military personnel, government officials, and other dignitaries who paid their respects to the late Army Chief, known for his commitment to service and defense of the nation.
