Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed deep sorrow following a tragic truck accident in the Aiyetoro area of Epe, Lagos State, that claimed several lives on Monday, November 11, 2024.
In a message posted on X.com on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu extended his sympathies to the families of the victims and offered prayers for those injured in the accident.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences in light of the tragic traffic accident that occurred in the Aiyetoro area of Epe, Lagos State,” he wrote.
“Reports indicate that a cement truck suffered brake failure, resulting in the unfortunate loss of lives and injuries sustained.”
According to eyewitness accounts, the truck, descending from Ita-Opo, reportedly lost its brakes, veering into a commercial tricycle and striking a parked Toyota Camry before crashing into the local market.
The impact led to the deaths of at least three people, with several others injured.
Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the devastating impact of the incident, saying, “With deep sorrow, I extend my sympathies to the families of those affected. I also pray for the departed souls and for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
He further offered words of solace, adding, “May the families find solace in the love and support surrounding them, and may the cherished memories of their loved ones bring them some comfort as they navigate their grief.”
