The Edo State Government has confirmed that all public and private schools in the state will resume the 2024/25 academic session on Monday, September 30, 2024.
This follows an earlier resumption delay from the initially planned date of September 9.
According to The PUNCH, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, dispelled rumors of a September 23 reopening, which had been circulating widely.
He emphasized that the false information was not from any government source.
“We are aware of a false notification claiming that schools should reopen on Monday, September 23, 2024,” Akin-Longe said. “This did not come from the Edo State Government and should be ignored.”
He reiterated the state’s position on the matter, saying, “All schools, both public and private, will now resume on Monday, September 30. We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of parents and guardians during this period.”
The Ministry urged all stakeholders to stay informed through official channels to avoid misinformation.
