In a bid to ensure public order during the upcoming nationwide protest in Kaduna State, over 25,000 police operatives and other security personnel have been strategically deployed to key areas.
The Kaduna State Police Command, in collaboration with the armed forces and other security agencies, conducted a show of force across the metropolis on Wednesday to build confidence among residents.
According to DailyTrust, the development was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, in a statement.
He emphasized that the operation’s primary goal is to prevent any individuals with harmful intentions from inciting violence during the protest.
ASP Hassan explained that the operation also aims to demonstrate the readiness and capability of security agencies to maintain peace and order.
“The primary objective of this show of force is to deter individuals with malicious intent from engaging in any form of violence during the upcoming protest,” he stated. “Effective deployment of over 25,000 police personnel, armed forces, and other security personnel has been made to strategic flashpoints to ensure strict compliance with public order.”
He reassured the public that the police respect citizens’ constitutional rights to peaceful assembly and protest, but emphasized that these activities must remain peaceful.
The show of force included participation from high-ranking officers such as the Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command, the Garrison Commander 1 Division Kaduna, the Air Officer Commanding 453 Base Service Group Kaduna, the Commander of Civil Defense, the Commander of KADVS, as well as all ACPOLs and DPOs.
The statement underlined the commitment of the security agencies to prevent any attempts to destabilize the state during the protest.
