Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has declared a state of emergency in the flooded Isheri community, located in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
According to Daily Trust, the governor also pledged swift intervention to address the situation and alleviate the plight of residents.
Abiodun further announced that a comprehensive assessment, leading to a long-term solution for the persistent flooding issue in the affected area, would be conducted in the near future. He emphasized that his administration was collaborating with the federal government to treat the situation as an emergency.
It was noted that a permanent solution is urgently needed to enhance the living conditions in the region. The state government’s plans include raising the elevation of certain roads in the area to mitigate the problem.
During an address to residents of Riverview Estate, Governor Abiodun revealed his request for a thorough survey of the entire estate to identify critical areas requiring immediate attention.
He assured residents that this intervention would involve the construction of elevated roads with proper drainage systems to alleviate their suffering.
