A group under the aegis of Nigerian Society of Engineers, has called on the state governors across the country to take advantage of the Electricity Act to generate power for the people.
This was made known by the Vice President of the NSE, Danladi Adamu, while presenting a paper at the 2023 Engineering Week of the Jalingo branch on Tuesday.
The Engineers observed that the days of relying solely on the national grids for power generation are gradually coming to an end, while charging the governors to, as a matter of urgency, put necessary mechanism in place to supply power to their residents.
He said state governors, “don’t have to rely on the national grid before thinking of making power supply available to their people residing at various locations.”
He said following the enactment of the Electricity Act, governors can now provide power to residents without depending on the national grid.
He urged them to partner with companies or investors experienced in power generation to achieve the target.
Adamu equally called on the Taraba State Government to expand Mambilla beverage for an increase in productivity, just as he urged the government to increase the tea farm, buy more equipment and construct the Tunga Dam so the factory can have enhanced productivity and generate revenue for the state.
The said tea company, which is located in Mambilla Plateau in the Sardauna Local Government Council of the state, is said to be the largest tea factory in West Africa.
