The state administration of Kano State has been prohibited from carrying out the planned demolition of the houses that have already been indicated by residents along BUK road in the Gwale Local administration area of Kano State.
The Kano State Bureau for Land Management and three other parties were prohibited from demolishing and intruding on structures that were designated for demolition by the court presided over by Justice Hafsat Sani.
In an application for an interim injunction, dated July 4, the plaintiff Bashir Abdullahi and 19 other parties were represented by Ibrahim Adamu Esq.
Justice Hafsat Sani ordered an interim injunction preventing the respondents, their agents, privies, workmen or servants, or anybody acting or acting on their behalf.
“On their behalf, refrain from taking any further steps such as encroaching, invading, or demolishing their buildings, revoking rights of occupancy, or doing anything else that may jeopardize the position of the plots along BUK road in Gwale Local Government pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.”
However, Justice Sani postponed the proceedings until October 26 so that the move on notice could be heard.
The Kano State Governor, Kano State Attorney General, Kano State Bureau for Land Management, and Kano Urban Planning and Development Agency are among the respondents who have joined the lawsuit.
