A handbag that requires a microscope to be seen was sold for $63,000 at an auction on Wednesday.
According to The British Broadcasting Corporation, the Louis Vuitton-styled neon-green miniature purse was created by Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF.
According to reviews, the bag is smaller than a grain of sea salt and narrow enough to pass through the eye of a needle.
The handbag, which retailed for $63,750, was printed using two-photon polymerization, a 3-D printing technology typically employed for creating mechanical biotech structures.
Its dimensions were 657 by 222 by 700 micrometres, or less than 0.03 inches across.
A microscope with a built-in digital display was also included in the sale to the anonymous buyer.
Based on the company’s OnTheGo style purses, which retail in full size for between $3,100 and $4,300, photos of the small speck of a bag show that it has a giant Louis Vuitton LV emblem printed in the middle.
