The Oyo State police command on Tuesday said one suspected hoodlum believed to be loyalist to the former head of the disciplinary committee of the Park Management System, Mukaila Lamidi popularly known as Auxillary was killed in a gun duel during a police raid.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams while addressing the press said seventy-seven others were arrested in connection with a planned widespread carnage following the dissolution of the Park Management System led by Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi popularly known as Auxillary.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams who parraded the suspects at the police headquarters in Eyeleye said the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated raid around Auxiliary’s location at Diamond Hotel, Alakia-Isebo, under Egbeda LGA.
He said ” Seventy-Eight suspected hoodlums who had perfected plans to unleash mayhem at the early hours of today at Major parts of the Metropolis were arrested in possession of sophisticated firearms.
“Worthy of note is that, though the PMS Chieftain was able to escape with some of his boys during the gun duel with the Police,However a member of the group was neutralized in a gun duel with the Police.
“Recall that the same group was alleged to be responsible for the attack on fourteen members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria along Agodi axis under Ibadan North-East LGA enroute the venue of yesterday’s Inaugural celebrations”.
Items recovered from the suspects include 724 cartridges, 33mobile phones, and a sum of money worth 3mllion 450 thousand naira.
Other recovered items include, cutlasses, local charms laptops among others.
The CP added that one of the suspects was neutralised during the gun between the olive and the hoodlums.
The Punch Metro had reported that the sacked PMS head was removed by the state governor Seyi Makinde on Monday.
There have been reported violence in some parts of the state following the removal of Auxillary.
