A Mesquite ISD middle school substitute teacher was fired after she “encouraged students to fight each other during class,” according to the district.
According to CNN, a district spokeswoman said that the fights was captured on tape in a Kimbrough Middle School classroom, and that they were made aware of the video on Thursday.
She also revealed that an immediate investigation was ordered into the incident.
“Our investigation revealed that this substitute teacher encouraged students to fight each other during class, outlined rules for the students to follow and even instructed a student to monitor the classroom door while the fights took place,” she said.
The unidentified substitute teacher had been with the district since March 6 before being sacked on Thursday.
The district described her conduct as “appalling and intolerable,” and the event was reported to the Mesquite Police Department, who will “pursue possible criminal charges.”
