Chaos has erupted in the Mile 12 and Ojota areas of Lagos State, forcing residents and commuters to scamper for safety on Friday morning.
The state Police Publica Relations Officier, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.
As of the time of filing this report, Punch Metro can’t ascertain the cause of the unrest but reports suggest that there were sounds of gunshots at the scene.
However, Hundeyin said that police officers have been deployed to the area to calm things.
He said, “It is true. Our men are there. Reinforcement units have been deployed.”
He advised Lagosians to stay safe and possibly keep off the disturbed environment for now as they closely monitor and manage things.
“Stay safe out there as we closely monitor and manage the situation.”
