The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Major General Muhamadu Buhari, (retdl, has assured Nigerians that the challenge caused by the scarcity of the redesigned notes will be attended to as he is to meet with the Central Bank as well as minting company for the way forward.
This, he said today after meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja.
The president said that the essence of the redesign of the currency will boost the economy, adding that the the cause of the scarcity may further be attributed to the inefficiency of some banks.
He expressed worries over the suffering masses who undergo untold hardship due to the scarcity of the new naira notes, assuring that the remaining seven days of the 10 days extension will be used to squash all hindrances to the free flow of the new notes.
According to President Buhari, “I will revert to the CBN and the Minting Company. There will be a decision one way or the other in the remaining seven days of the 10-day extension,”
