The Director of the Kaduna State University m, Center for Gender Studies, Prof. Hauwa’u Evelyn Yusuf, has been awarded a N34.7 million research grant from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund National Research Grant Fund.
The LEADERSHIP reported that this information was released on Wednesday in a statement made accessible to journalists in Kaduna by the institution’s public relations officer, Mr. Adamu Nuhu Bargo.
He called it a “milestone” in the institution’s efforts to advance research.
Professor of criminology and gender studies Hauwa’u Yusuf, according to Bargo, used the grant to carry out a study titled “Use of Intervention Strategies for Sustainable Wealth Creation Among Low-Income Women in Nigeria.”
He stated that academics from Covenant University and University of Ibadan, among other institutions, would be working on the project with the professor.
Deputy Dean of Students Affairs, Head of the Sociology Department, Director of Academic Planning, and Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Education are a few of the positions.
The statement read, “Other roles held by the Professor include Member/Chairperson of Adhoc/Statutory committees and current Director, Gender Studies.”
The KASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Musa, congratulated Yusuf and emphasized the administration’s goal of repositioning KASU as a research-based institution, according to the university’s spokesman.
According to him, this will put KASU on the map of research-based universities around the world.
