A car accident in Kogi State, has resulted in the death of 15 yet-to-be-identified persons, with five others critically injured.
According to Daily Post, the accident happened at Koton-Karfe on the Lokoja-Abuja highway around 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday.
While confirming the incident to newsmen, Kogi Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Sector Commander, Stephen Dawulung, stated that a J-5 Boxer Bus and a Petroleum Tanker collided.
He claimed that the bodies of the deceased victims were placed in the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, while the five injured people were taken immediately to Ideal Hospital in Koton-Karfe.
Dawulung clarified that while traveling from Lokoja to Abuja, the bus driver broke traffic laws by going against the flow of traffic.
“The bus driver left his lane and was driving in the opposite direction on high speed only to have a head on collision with an on coming petroleum tanker.
“The unfortunate thing is that the bus was conveying iron cramps with 17 passengers, 15 of which were terribly squeezed and chocked to death during the collision,” he said
