The retired chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, has issued a warning to the agency’s employees not to abuse the public’s trust in them.
At the NDLEA’s end-of-year awards, commendation, and decoration of promoted officers on Tuesday in Abuja, Marwa issued the warning.
He said that President Muhammadu Buhari has made significant efforts to provide the staff with welfare packages and gave the assurance that management will continue to give priority to their well-being, professionalism, and work entitlements.
He adds that the barrack project for officers and men is moving along nicely, showing that the future is promising for NDLEA employees.
Marwa stated that the organization was looking into possibilities for local and distant employee trainings.
He said that doing this will increase their professionalism and put them on par with the top drug enforcement agents in the world.
In 2022, the agency had a record number of various trainings, according to the NDLEA chairman, who also promised that there would be more in the future.
He said; “Hence, as you go back to your respective commands, let us take back the message to our colleagues that management has got your back.
“As the year draws to an end, let us bear in mind that we must surpass our record of the past two years in 2023.
“The goal of a drug-free Nigeria is attainable and that is our mandate.
“Importantly, let us recognise that we are in a moment of history, therefore, we must seize the momentum and run a good race,” he added.
According to Marwa, the NDLEA administration is dedicated to raising employee productivity in order to achieve the goal of making Nigeria a drug-free nation.
Highlights of the occasion were award presentations, letters of praise, and decorating of promoted officers to their new ranks, among others.
