Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has weighed in on the controversy surrounding popular singer Asake and a man, Fatai Odunsi, who claims to be his father.
In a recent Instagram post, Amusa highlighted the impact of parental love and presence in a child’s life, stressing that fame and wealth cannot erase childhood wounds.
“When Asake covered his face in tattoos, I once remarked that he was either rebranding or masking a pain he wasn’t ready to confront,” she wrote.
The actress acknowledged reports that Asake’s father was absent and his mother was strict but refrained from passing judgment. Instead, she urged the public to recognize the singer’s need for love rather than making a spectacle of the situation.
“Fame doesn’t heal the wounds of parental rejection. A child raised on ‘I love you’ moves through life differently than one who hears, ‘I want nothing to do with you.’ Some wounds money cannot fix—only deep, intentional healing can. Rather than judge, I choose to send love to this remarkable artist,” she added.
Amusa further advised parents to be actively involved in their children’s lives, emphasizing that a strong foundation at home shapes a child’s confidence in the world.
“A child who feels truly seen and loved at home has less to prove to the world. As a victim of such circumstances, I can relate. I wish him well,” she concluded.
Her statement comes amid a dispute involving Odunsi, who recently appeared in a viral video appealing for financial assistance due to health challenges. The elderly man, who claimed he has been battling a stroke since 2022, alleged that Asake had ignored his calls despite his deteriorating condition.
In response, the singer addressed the situation in a cryptic message shared on TikTok. Singing in Yoruba, he said.
“You can’t please everyone, you can’t please the world. But anything you are doing, just do it for God. My own father wants to cajole me, and I have sent so much money to him. I have struggled for so many years, but they want to make life tire me.”
