As Nigerians welcome the New Year, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appealed to citizens to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force in fostering a safer and more peaceful nation.
In a New Year message shared on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP praised the resilience displayed by Nigerians in overcoming last year’s challenges and underscored his commitment to a community-focused approach to law enforcement.
“This season offers an opportunity for joy, reflection, and renewed hope. The Nigeria Police Force recognizes the remarkable determination of Nigerians in navigating the obstacles of the past year,” the statement read.
Egbetokun emphasized that prioritizing community engagement would be central to enhancing public safety and security in 2025. He highlighted the role of citizens as key partners in combating insecurity and called for proactive collaboration with the police.
“The NPF remains steadfast in adopting a people-focused policing strategy to ensure the safety and security of every Nigerian. We urge citizens to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and maintain effective communication with law enforcement agencies,” he said.
Reflecting on the collective responsibility required to build a secure society, the IGP reiterated the NPF’s dedication to protecting lives and property while creating an environment conducive to national development.
“As we embark on this journey into 2025, let us work together to create a safer, more secure Nigeria,” Egbetokun urged. “The Police Force remains committed to its duties, and with your support, we can achieve remarkable progress. I wish everyone a prosperous and fulfilling New Year.”
