The National Examinations Council announced on Wednesday that it has completed allowance payments for 72,138 examiners who worked as ad hoc staff for the 2024 School-Based Senior School Certificate Examination.
The Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani confirmed the development in a statement, noting that payments began on October 4, 2024, and were processed bank-by-bank to ensure accurate reconciliation.
“As of today, November 13, 2024, all examiners have received their allowances in accordance with our payment plan,” Sani said.
The Council addressed initial delays some examiners faced due to incorrect bank details, which have now been resolved, allowing all 24 participating banks to complete the transactions successfully.
NECO also refuted recent social media rumors alleging that it had deliberately withheld examiners’ payments.
“The Management advises that any individual engaged by the Council should seek clarification directly from NECO on matters that concern them before resorting to the media,” the statement emphasized.
NECO expressed its appreciation for the dedication of its examiners and other temporary staff, highlighting their critical role in the smooth conduct of the examinations.
“We are grateful for their contributions and remain committed to ensuring they receive their due entitlements,” the Council added.
