Unbeaten Nigerian boxer Oluwafemi ‘The Nightmare’ Oyeleye has issued a bold challenge to the top fighters in the light-middleweight division, urging them to step up and face him in the ring.
Taking to social media on Friday, the WBC Intercontinental champion expressed frustration over the difficulty of securing high-profile fights.
He made it clear that he is ready to take on anyone ranked ahead of him in the 154-pound division.
“No more Mr nice guy. All that (stuff) ain’t getting me the big fight I want and the title I’ve dreamed of since I laced up my first pair of boxing gloves at just 6 years old,” Oyeleye declared.
“So I’m officially calling everyone ranked ahead of me at 154 pounds, top 10 to 15, you’ll need to fight me. You guys ain’t better than me. 99.9% of you don’t have my boxing ability or IQ. So let’s make this (sport) fun. You’ll call me out, I want the best.”
The Nigerian-American fighter is riding high after a knockout victory over Spain’s Leonardo Di Stefano on June 22 at the 2300 Arena in Pennsylvania, USA.
In a dominant display, Oyeleye stopped his opponent in the fourth round with a powerful hook, securing his 16th consecutive professional win.
Of his victories, 10 have come by knockout, cementing his reputation as a hard-hitting contender.
His triumph over Di Stefano was particularly significant, as the Spanish fighter came into the bout with an intimidating record, having won 12 of his 13 victories by knockout.
Despite his impressive run, Oyeleye remains frustrated by the lack of big-name opponents, suggesting that higher-ranked fighters may be reluctant to face him.
His latest challenge signals a shift in strategy, as he looks to put public pressure on the division’s elite to step into the ring with him.
With his growing reputation and an aggressive new approach outside the ring, Oyeleye is making it clear that he won’t be ignored any longer.
The WBC Intercontinental champion is on a mission, and his sights are set on the biggest fights of his career.
