The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, has granted approval for the establishment of a new refinery.
The licence, awarded to Process Design and Development Limited, authorizes the construction of a facility with a refining capacity of 27,000 barrels per day.
According to NMDPRA, the refinery will be situated in Dole-Wure, within the Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
The announcement was made on the agency’s official X handle, where it stated, “Authority Chief Executive presented a Licence to Establish a 27,000 BPSD Refinery to the Managing Director/ CEO of Process Design and Development Limited. The refinery is to be located in Dole-Wure, Akko, Gombe State.”
This development brings Nigeria’s total number of modular and conventional refineries to approximately 10. However, despite this addition, many of the country’s refineries remain either underutilized or inactive, limiting their overall contribution to national refining capacity.
A background check via NG.Checks reveals that Process Design and Development Limited is registered in Kano, with a registration number of 487883.
The company’s board comprises Adamu U. Sanda, Abdulkadir Umar, Umar S. Umar, and Bashir Umar as directors.
