Real Sociedad secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv, with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring twice and Sheraldo Becker adding another to assert the San Sebastián side’s dominance over the Europa League’s bottom-placed team, all before halftime.
The game began slowly, with both teams hesitant to make early moves. However, controversy surfaced as a potential penalty for Nayef Aguerd’s challenge on Eduardo Guerrero was not awarded by either the referee or VAR.
At the other end, a clear penalty was given for Mikel Oyarzabal, who missed his first attempt but converted from the rebound.
With the advantage, the home team started creating more chances in front of goal.
Becker came close to scoring a stunning effort from a close-range rebound outside the box, but Georgi Buschan, undoubtedly the standout performer for Dynamo, made an excellent save.
The Surinamese forward did eventually find the net to make it 2-0, with a shot that deflected off a defender and left Buschan unable to react.
Just minutes later, Oyarzabal netted his second goal, following a well-weighted pass from Jon Ander Olasagasti.
The Spaniard expertly dribbled past the defender and finished with his weaker foot to extend the lead.
The second half was a comfortable affair for Real Sociedad, who didn’t need to push hard to preserve their lead. The only real threat came midway through the half when Becker delivered a brilliant cross to Jon Magunazelaia, whose header rattled the post.
The match concluded with a well-deserved 3-0 win, which could have been more, moving Imanol Alguacil’s side up to 12th in the standings, just one point shy of the top 8.
Meanwhile, Dynamo Kyiv remains stuck at the bottom of the table, still searching for their first points after six matches.
